Nokia Camera app released for all Android smartphones

Nokia Camera app released for all Android smartphones
NEW DELHI: Did you ever want to get the camera user interface that new Nokia handsets use? Well, now it’s possible. HMD Global, the company licensed to make and sell Nokia-branded smartphones, have made the Nokia handsets’ ‘Camera’ app available on the Google Play Store.
Although the new Camera app is listed on the Google Play, not all users are able to download the app yet. The listing is old as the last update is dated July 20. There is nothing mentioned in the app description as well. The camera app in the new Nokia smartphones are clutter free and make it easy to access features such as the gallery, camera settings and filters.

Talking about the Nokia camera app, recently it was reported that HMD Global could also bring the Nokia Lumia camera UI to smartphones soon. The Finnish company has received around 500 patents as a part of the acquisition deal from Microsoft, one of which is for the ‘Lumia Camera UI’ . As spotted by the Nokia Mob website, if the design patent takes shape in real life, future Nokia smartphones could bring back the Lumia Camera UI, which was found in Nokia Lumia smartphones when they were sold under Microsoft brand name.

It is worth adding that trademarks for PureView, ClearBlack or PureMotion are still with Microsoft. However these too may be transferred to HMD Global as there are 200 more patents left, according to EUIPO or European Union Intellectual Property Office. It is not clear how or when HMD Global plans to bring the Lumia Camera UI to Nokia smartphones. However, what we know for sure is that the company is working on Nokia 8 for now, a smartphone tipped to feature dual rear cameras.
